In Loving Memory - A Tribute to my Favorite Artists
Throughout my life I have painted a variety of subject matters, from portraits to landscapes to still life, sometimes portraying a part of my dream, sometimes my hopes, and other time my wildest imagination. My latest series brings these elements together in a homage.
This series of work has been inspired by classical Art History and my fascination with centuries of incredible jewelry making; the breathtaking art and the masterful craftsmanship of its jewelers.
It is my intention that you can see in my work some images of my most favorite artists and teachers: Leonardo da Vinci, Van Dyke, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Gustav Moreau, Gustav Klimt, and so on.
Some paintings include pieces of famous art as well as jewelry from the same time period. Other paintings celebrate an epoch when a particular artist or jeweler lived and worked in conjunction with architecture from that period. In yet other paintings, artists and jewelers from different time periods are in dialogue with each other on the same
canvas.
These 10 pieces are created as a tribute to these artists, in appreciation of their talent and ability to teach generations of artists to come. It is created in loving memory of the many women, artists, and personal influences that shaped my way of seeing.
